Working with
Reputable Mortgage Brokers
A Checklist
Mortgage brokers aren't lenders or bankers; they are independent
businesspeople who specialize in helping their clients find
the appropriate financial tools to accomplish their goals.
Reputable brokers are in business for the long-term; their
business is built over years of providing quality products
and services to the community. Most brokers do little advertising,
because their clients are their best source of new business,
both from referrals and repeat business.

Brokers are regulated by federal and state laws and guidelines.
Disreputable brokers don't last long. There are several
ways to know you're dealing with a professional:
 |
They will provide
specific details of the entire mortgage process
from application to closing, as well as provide
lending options and associated costs. |
 |
They will offer references
freely for your consideration. |
 |
They will not discriminate
based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, marital
status, age or income. |
 |
They will not pressure you. |
 |
They will notify you of loan
closing details within three business days. |
 |
They will share a lock-in
agreement and a Good Faith Estimate for your review. |
